Evan Evans with sons Jake and Nathan at the 2015 St Mary’s Salesian Presentation Night
Nathan and Jake Evans played together in the Reserves, Rd 3, 2016 in memory of Evo.
It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of club legend Evan Evans.
Evan passed away peacefully on 17 April 2016 with family by his side.
Evan was a Life Member of St Mary’s Salesian, and the club games record holder with 470 games. He was a Senior Premiership Player (1993), Reserves Premiership Player (1979, 2000), Senior Coach (1998), Reserves Best and Fairest (1995, 1996, 2002), Reserves Captain (1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 2001) and Reserves Coach (1996-97).
Evo was a ‘heart and soul’ contributor to the club he loved. On Saturdays he would of course be supporting his two sons Nathan and Jake who carry on the family tradition on the field. On Thursday nights he would be leading the experts in the ‘experts corner’ as they tossed around the news of week. He was a former Committee Member, a foundation Gold Saint Member and a regular at the Gold Saints lunches.
His last appearance at the club was two weeks ago at the 2016 Season launch where he was able to sit with his many friends as we launched another season of football at Ferndale Park.
The St. Mary’s Salesian AFC, Committee, Life Members, Supporters, Players and Past Players extend our sincere condolences to Evan’s family, and especially sons Jake Evans and Nathan Evans, and his partner Sharon.
We invite you to leave your tribute to Evo below.
