Norbert Graetzer
Congratulations to Norbert Graetzer who
has been awarded Life Membership of St
Mary's Salesian AFC. He was Vice-President of
St Mary's from 2005-2007, Senior Vice-President
of St Mary's Salesian in 2008, and Club President
from 2009-2011. Norbert is the 64th Life Member
of our club
Mark Purcell
Congratulations to Mark Purcell who has
been awarded Life Membership of St Mary's
Salesian AFC. Purce has played 167 games for the
club, and was a member of the 2009 Grand Final
Team. He is a current serving Committeee Member
and continues as joint Reserves coach in 2012.
Mark is the 65th Life Member of our club. |

GAME

Greg Baum
is one of Australia's finest sports writers. He
is also Nick Baum's dad and has followed the fortunes
of St Mary's Salesian during the 2011 season.
He has honoured the club with an article called
The Love of the Game, published in the
Saturday Age on August 27.
"There's no compromise at grassroots level,
and it's not just a game. Six goals behind at
quarter-time on the first day of the season, the
Saints stormed home to win by a goal. Walking
off their little suburban ground, they resembled
a herd of snorting bulls. Everything seemed possible
then. But it would be weeks before they won again.

opened on Saturday April 9, 2011 with many dignitaries,

the Halo Bar in our newly-rennovated club pavillion,

WALLY'S DAY AT THE FOOTY
My Boss "Big Al" is an early riser and
on most days he likes to get out early to take
me for a brisk walk. Now that Al is involved with
his junior days football club in Glen Iris, Saturday
becomes a fun day for me "Wally'.

1975 PREMIERSHIP REUNION
The first-ever reunion of the 1975 St Mary's A
Grade Premiership team was held at the Hawthorn
Club on Friday July 15, 2011. Players, Coaches
and Officials all gathered to celebrate in style
and to enjoy the friendship and camaraderie that
only a Premiership can bring.

FINAL GOLD SAINTS LUNCH FOR 2011
Our final Gold Saints luncheon was a great success
and was very well attended by over 40 members
and guests. Club President, Norbert Graetzer,
introduced Guest Speaker, Ian Dicker, who
spoke on his tenure as Hawthorn Football Club
President and also his involvement as head of
the Victorian Bushfires Reconstruction and Recovery
Authority.
